THE HARRIET TUBMAN RESEARCH INSTITUTE @ YORK UNIVERSITY IN CANADA

The harriet Tubman Institute for Research on the Global Migrations of African Peoples is a great and valuable faculty of research within the core entities of York University located in the Canadian province of Ontario. In the early November 2010, I was more than delighted to attend the workshop on "Teaching African History and African Diaspora History" hosted by the Institute, UNESCO, and York University. Based on the fact that there is still an incredible secrecy in the curricula and the manuals of primary and secondary schools about the foundation historical events that cement our modern societies notably the slavery of million of Africans everywhere in the world, it was time then the break this kind of conspiracy of silence in order to prompt curricular reform that allows students to access and gain knowledge regarding this past. The vision held by the institute fostered my interest to join. That is way I did write this tentative proposal to Professor Paul Lovejoy and the Tubman team.
