This meeting took place in December 2006 in San Jose. The main point consisted of arising awareness to young people regarding the importance of being successful at school. Myself, being from Africa, the meeting definitely gave us the opportunity to discuss aspects of relationships between African Americans and Africans. I did hammer out upon the idea that the "Black dispute" shouldn't exist. Having knowledge of historical circumstances related to the early contacts between Europeans and Africa then the inception of the shameful Slave trade, it becomes absolutely meaningless for black people to hate black people. What is true for inter-culturally diverse black people (African Americans versus Africans) is also true for intra-culturally alike black people (Africans with ethnic conflicts & African Americans with self-hatred issue). The black history and condition seems to be set at the opposite of the history and condition of Juwish people. Being badly stereotyped, prejudiced, discriminated, and oppressed around the world (except in the US certainly) jews have built strong and loving community that protects them against further hatred actions around the world. In France for example, attacking a single jew would put all the government in the street demonstrating to condemn the hate crime. But a black victim of hate crime runs untold; just go, there's nothing to have. (LOL) Not sure black people in general are aware of that.
